Here at Bright Futures Learning Academy (BFLA), we implement an age appropriate play-based curriculum. Our teachers create lesson plans that meets each child's unique developmental level, as a whole. We also incorporate the philosophies of some of the most renowned theorists in the Early Childhood Education, such as Piaget, Vygotsky, Montessori, and Reggio Emilia. We share their philosophies, in that children learn through play, allowing them to discover themselves through various "Learning Centers," and providing children the freedom to explore with natural elements, both indoors and outdoors.
Our high quality preschool differs from other preschools as we implement a well-balanced combination of play based and academic based curriculum. Children will learn how to write the alphabet and their name; learn the basic concepts of addition and subtraction; and learn how to spell their names by age five. Core concepts of S.T.E.A.M (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Math) curriculum is also applied, in order to prepare children for Kindergarten and beyond!
We also provide a Student Portfolio, in which children's work will be filed and teacher's observation notes are used to highlight each child's learning. There is a quarterly parent-teacher conference, an Open-House at least twice a year, and other special events to show-case the children's new found skills.
We hope to have a positive relationship with all of you, so that as a team, we can give your children memorable early learning experience, that they can take with them and speak fondly about, throughout their adult life.

Our Curriculum
Children will develop phonemic awareness; learn and recognize the alphabets; learn how to read, write, and spell basic words with the help of "sight words" by age five.
Literacy
Children will go through the process of learning how to write: from scribbling, making basic shapes, to properly holding a pencil, and utilizing child-safe scissors to develop eye-hand coordination. Children will also learn how to write letters and their names through various tracing practices.
Writing/Fine-Motor Skills
Children will learn the basic concepts of addition and subtraction through hands-on math activities, using counters, sequencing, patterning, matching and sorting, and classifying geometric objects.
Mathematics
Children will learn science and nature through safe, fun, and educational experiments, to spark their curiosity; develop their own observations; ask questions; make predictions and hypothesize; test their ideas, make comparisons; record observations; and enhance their ability to understand the relationship between cause-and-effect.
Science
Socio-Emotional
Children will develop self-awareness, build positive relationships with adults and peers; learn to identify their feelings, discuss what makes them feel a certain way, as teachers guide them to resolve the problem they encounter.
Physical Education/Gross-Motor Skills
Children will enhance their gross motor skills through various sports and outdoor play activities. Soccer, basketball, football, baseball, hop-scotch, are included in our daily outdoor play time.
Music & Movement
Children will have the opportunity to play various musical instruments in the Music & Movement Area. They are free to explore the unique sounds of the xylophones, triangles, maracas, tambourines, drums, rain-sticks, and more! We implement a multicultural approach in music so children will learn to sing in Spanish and other languages.
Blocks & Manipulatives
Children will explore different ways to build structures using wooden blocks: arches, cylinders, semi-circles, triangular, and rectangular prisms.
The Blocks Area will also incorporate manilpulatives such as toy cars, trains, and train-tracks, to enhance their ability to construct, and apply basic concepts of architecture and engineering.
Art
Children will discover their unique styles and creativity in art. Painting and collaging are part of their daily activities; some are children initiated, and some, teacher led. Their art work will be displayed in our classrooms, while others can be taken home.
Dramatic Play
Children will learn to accept and assign roles, and then act them out. It is a time when they break through the walls of reality, pretend to be someone or something different from themselves, and dramatize situations and actions to go along with the roles they have chosen to play. This is a great avenue for children to develop social skills, communication and language skills, cognitive skills, and fine motor skills.
